A Day in the Life

We are seeking a committed professional to join our team. While this is a remote position not located at a physical Medtronic site, the candidate hired will be required to reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts throughout the region. A valid driver's license is essential for this role.

The Area Therapy Manager (ATM) will lead a team of Therapy Development Reps (TDRs) within an assigned Area, focusing on the adoption of new therapies and growing sales and market share for the Vascular product portfolio. The TDR team will focus on developing new accounts and driving therapy adoption of PVH carotid, thrombectomy, and other new products and therapies as outlined by leadership in the future.

The ATM will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive sales plans, strategies, and initiatives to achieve Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets while collaborating closely with Vascular District Managers and their teams to ensure cohesive execution of business objectives.

In addition to leading sales strategies, the ATM will oversee all aspects of hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and development of TDRs, with a focus on fostering and maintaining an engaged, high-performing team culture. This role will report to the Vascular Area Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales Planning and Execution:

  • Plans, directs, and leads all sales and sales training activities for specified Area.
  • Consistently meets and exceeds quarterly and annual sales targets, sales budget and account development targets.
  • Develops and executes accurate and on-going sales plans to achieve sales objectives.
  • Drives sales and adoption of new Vascular technologies within the Area developing and implementing sales strategies, plans, and tactics.
  • Collaborates with Vascular District Managers to identify opportunities, execute sales strategies, and leverage the full product portfolio to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Works with the Area Sales Director to establish quotas and targets, ensuring strategies are in place to meet and exceed plan.
  • Ensures effective communication and implementation of all sales and marketing programs across the Area.
  • Responsible for managing team to update Launch Dashboards on a weekly basis i.e. Tableau, Salesforce, Opportunity Funnel.
  • Manages and controls team expenses efficiently to support business objectives.

Leadership and Development:

  • Manages, coaches, and evaluates field employee performance through quarterly field rides and ongoing feedback.
  • Hires, trains, develops, and retains field employees to build a high-performing team focused on therapy adoption and achieving business goals.
  • Fosters a collaborative team culture and ensures effective coordination with the Vascular Sales Reps/Clinicals and cross-functional partners.
  • Conducts performance management discussions, leveraging observations and results/metrics to drive employee growth and accountability.
  • Provides input on compensation plans to incentivize therapy adoption and sales performance.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of business initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Works with the Strategic Accounts Director to align on Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO) and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN) contracting strategies and drive physician and local supply chain support from target accounts to influence demand at the GPO/IDN level.
  • Interfaces with Vascular leadership and the Strategic Accounts team to ensure vascular products are on contract and these contracts are utilized to drive growth.
  • Partners with Area Service Managers to align and leverage clinical resources based on the local sales strategy. Works with the ASM to fully utilize clinical relationships and expertise to support and grow the Vascular business.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with physicians, administrators, and other decision-makers to drive therapy adoption and account growth.
  • Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the client base. Ensures a working relationship between Medtronic and key accounts is maintained
  • Attend clinical meetings, seminars, conferences, etc., as appropriate

Product and Market Knowledge:

  • Develops and maintains a high level of product knowledge and relevant medical information for self, direct, and indirect reports

Ethical Culture:

  • Ensures the team upholds the company’s ethical standards and effectively communicates and enforces business conduct policies.

MUST HAVE - BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years professional medical device sales experience
    • OR-
  • Advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant sales and leadership experience
  • 5+ years leading teams with strong launch execution & discipline

NICE TO HAVE- DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven track record of success in medical device sales and experience leading field sales teams.
  • Preference for qualified local candidates and those with prior Medtronic experience.
  • Demonstrated success and a strong track record in medical device sales.
  • Knowledge of interventional cardiology customer base.
  • Additional experience in marketing, training, technical services, or related fields is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):125000

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals.
