Overview

The Sales Training & Development Manager will aid in directing the design, planning and implementation of sales training programs, policies, and procedures.   This position will be located in our Lenexa office and will assist in developing and implementing the training curriculum for Retail Specialists and Sales Representatives. The Sales Training & Development Manager will ensure proper, complete, and effective sales training and development for all positions in the SBC sales organization.  He/she will have a frequent presence in the field and warehouse locations.   

Responsibilities

  • Execute the implementation of the SBC PROFITS sales training curriculum for Sales Reps and Sales Leaders.
  • Support the development of new training programs, including modification and improvement of existing programs.
  • Implement the use of training materials including manuals, videos, webcasts, and other educational materials.
  • Create new training materials as necessary and suggest improvements based on experience while training.
  • Conduct new hire orientation sessions and arrange on-the-job training for new sales hires.
  • Facilitate general new hire orientation for non-sales team members.
  • Execute or arrange for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for the sales organization.
  • Spend significant time in the market, training new and existing Retail Specialists and Sales Reps.
  • Create new training and development programs as identified or assigned. Examples would include a mentor program, or other internal development programs.
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected sales initiatives or market changes.
  • Assist in the conducting of product knowledge classes (and the related certifications) or other sales specific topics as required.
  • Conducting RFP’s to contract external consultants when necessary for training programs.
  • Create and execute training programs on varying subjects as assigned, for varying audiences including presentations at our General Sales Meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the key responsibilities for this position.
  • Minimum five years sales experience required.
  • Minimum three years management/training experience preferred
  • Strong persuasive presentations skills, including the ability to speak before large audiences both internally and externally.
  • Background or experience in the beverage or restaurant/bar industry a plus.
  • Knowledge of the alcoholic beverage industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint – and other technologies required to create training materials. 
  • High level of integrity, commitment, and possess a strong work ethic.
    • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
    • Must be a self-starter and be willing to take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities.
    • Must be adept at organizational skills and prioritizing activities.
    • Must be able to successfully coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Inter-state travel required to train in our varying selling markets.
  • Valid Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment to qualify for a Kansas ABC Sales License.
