As an outside Sales Representative for Bunzl Distribution’s Processor organization, you will be accountable for meeting and exceeding sales targets across the Carolinas & Virginia geography. This is a field-based, customer-facing, territory sales role focused on both account management (existing accounts) and new business development (prospecting) ina B2B distribution sales environment.

You will work with external broadline food distributors and their customers, acting as a non-food specialist to drive sales growth through a variety of disposable food service products. These items include paper and plastic products, to-go packaging, janitorial supplies and other food service items. Your distributor customers will be selling disposable products to restaurants, hotels, resorts, and other institutional establishments. The ideal candidate is committed to continuous improvement, sales growth, partnership with distributor customers, and results achievement.

In addition to serving as a new business development partner for local and regional food distributors, you will build customer relationships, handle customer complaints and inquiries, support Accounts Receivable, and effectively communicate with all appropriate internal departments and support personnel.

This territory covers North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  An ideal candidate would be centrally located (near Greensboro, NC) to efficiently cover the customers and geography; but we will consider applicants anywhere within the territory listed.

Responsibilities:       

  • Increase sales through prospecting and building business with new local and regional distributor accounts.
  • Manage and expand existing customer relationships by delivering exceptional service and driving incremental account growth.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding sales and margin KPIs.
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service to build relationships, ensure customer satisfaction and actively cultivate new customer relationships to realize future sales growth potential.
  • Promote new products and drive sales of Bunzl internal house brands and preferred brands where appropriate.
  • Implement and manage pricing strategies within all accounts.
  • Complete weekly planning and scheduling of customer visits, with a strong understanding of objectives for each visit.
  • Present monthly recaps of targeted sales priorities to sales leadership.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Bunzl products, with the ability to demonstrate features and benefits by using product samples and/or catalog specifications.
  • Establish and grow new accounts.
  • Provide timely and accurate sales forecast to the operational and leadership team to ensure inventory levels are accurate.
  • Evaluate pricing quarterly to maintain and protect margins.
  • Participate in Industry Association Functions such as Trade Showes and other events.
  • Work with outside vendors on new materials and new innovative packaging solutions with regards to packaging.

Requirements:  

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of inside/outside sales experience.
  • Practical sales experience in at least one of the following markets is preferred:  food/meat processing, industrial processing, plant operating supplies, personal protection equipment or related safety items. Or previous experience selling ina paper, packaging, janitorial/sanitation or food service distribution industry.
  • Experience effectively planning daily and weekly sales and operations activity thought your geography.
  • User level proficiency in Windows operating environment and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMs, Power BI, CoPilot).
  • Experience with MS Dynamics or another CRM tool.
  • Work effectively in situations that involve change and/or competing demands.
  • Proficient handling of all confidential and time-sensitive material.
  • Strong Results Orientation and Sense of Urgency.
  • High level of Personal Accountability.
  • Ability to Identify and Prioritize Key Initiatives.
  • Daily/weekly travel within the listed geography is required, including overnight stays as needed.
  • Must have and maintain a valid US driver’s license.

  • As a Sales Representative, this role will have a total first year compensation package of $65,000-$125,000 (inclusive of competitive base salary and guaranteed commission component for the first 6 months) based on candidate experience, education & geography.  After 6 months, you will transition to a traditional commission plan that is a mix of salary + commission.
