The Sales Manager reports directly to the CEO. As an individual contributor within a matrixed organization, this position is responsible for driving profitable revenue by acquiring new business and by managing customer relationships. They will have proven accomplishments in building and managing successful sales and marketing teams in CRO, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry markets.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Sales Activity and Management for Execution: Identifies prospective clients and expands AnaBios' book of business across industry, academic, and government sectors.
- Develops and maintains contact database, including customers and prospects in each sales territory/market sector. Continually adds referral prospects to the pipeline.
- Manages the sales process and pipeline including prospecting, introduction of company, presentations, industry events, proposals, and negotiations.
- Maintains contact with potential customers and existing customer base.
- Sells and monitors all products and services (new and existing) and applies pricing program and strategy with crystal clear scope and cost/pricing data to ensure that they are consistent with the market realities and to maximize the company’s profitability.
- Sales Goals and Performance: Accurately forecasts, drives, and delivers revenue toward established targets, and manages the sales process to drive results. Develops and maintains metrics of sales process to meet the challenges of competitive pressures. Utilizes opportunities tracked in Salesforce database to appropriately drive the forecasting process. Maintains a comprehensive lead management and reporting process that provides senior management visibility.
- Works cross-functionally with AnaBios’s senior managers and other sales managers to meet sales, revenue, and profitability goals.
- Ensures Salesforce CRM system is up to date with individual activities. Works across the commercial organization to identify and help implement efficiencies in CRM structure and usage to better drive and track Opportunities and Sales.
- Works individually and with Marketing to ensure clients and markets are knowledgeable about AnaBios' services.
- Represents AnaBios at external functions including, but not limited to; tradeshows, customer (prospective and secured) site visits, teleconferences, etc.
- Partners with the Operations and other internal teams to ensure and improve as appropriate information flow to accelerate sales and study execution.
- Establish and meet Industry-leading customer expectations. Including, but not necessarily limited to: pricing, study structure, study timelines, data delivery and interpretation, NDAs, MSAs, quotes and work orders.
- Ensures client inquiries, needs, and follow-ups are met in a timely manner.
- Performs other related job duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
• Business and/or Science degree(s). Advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience selling and/or marketing in the biopharma industry
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A thorough understanding of and background in sales and business development processes.
Excellent knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry as it relates to human tissue and translational research.
Ability to actively design strategy and tactics, develop and pursue assignments, evaluate situations, adapt to change, and make decisions in a timely manner.
Superior verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual who takes the initiative to work independently and with the team.
